Exploring Hong Kong with children is a joy for parents, and there are plenty of exciting activities to do during your family vacation.

1. Hong Kong Disneyland

Mickey Mouse and all his friends have settled on Lantau Island, making Hong Kong one of the few fantasy Disney cities in the world. The Hong Kong Disneyland experience cannot be completed without a visit with kids.

The park has seven areas, each with a different theme: Adventureland, Grizzly Gulch, Misty Manor, Toy Story, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, and Main Street America. There needs to be more than a day trip to explore everything, so prioritizing is key. For families with children of various ages, we recommend the following rides:

Tomorrowland’s Fly Over Space Mountain:

This wild adventure will stimulate your senses. It’s pitch black, and this journey takes you through the darkest places in outer space, then right in the middle of Star Wars. An innovative reimagining of the classic Space Mountain attraction, plus R2D2, meets Chewbacca.

“It’s a small world” in the fantasy world:

Perhaps the busiest ride of the day, Small World is a classic Disney ride that has captivated generations of visitors. No wonder, according to Disney, this ride has the most “repeat customers.” This whimsical boat trip for younger kids is a song-filled journey worldwide.

If you still decide to stay in Hong Kong with the kids, Disney has fantastic accommodations to complete your fairytale journey. Hong Kong Disneyland has three themed hotels, some of which have stunning sea views:

  • A Victorian-inspired hotel at Hong Kong Disneyland
  • Adventures and wilderness themes at Disney Explorers Lodge
  • Bringing Hollywood-style entertainment to your family at Disney’s Hollywood Hotel

There are many kinds of things to do with children in Hong Kong. Hong Kong has a few particularly kid-friendly museums that stand out from the crowd and offer experiences that are hard to find elsewhere.

2. Hong Kong Museum of History

It is located in Tsim Sha Tsui and looks at Hong Kong’s and the surrounding area’s history. Take you on a journey through time and space, learning about dynasties, folk culture, the Opium Wars, British colonies, World War II, and Japanese occupation to today’s Hong Kong. Kids will love exploring the real forest with hidden animals and the many lifelike diorama displays. Your kids will love delving into the museum’s interactive exhibits, like a replica fishing boat and a double-decker tram. Tip: The museum is free every Wednesday!

3. Hong Kong Space Museum

The Space Museum is located near the History Museum and is suitable for children to visit. It is a fun choice for children who yearn for space. Inside the planetarium is an interesting egg-shaped dome structure with a large collection of meteorites, a chronology of space travel, and a 360-degree panoramic space theater with 3D screenings, all designed to inspire children’s interest in astronomy and space science.

4. Hong Kong Ocean Park

Besides Disneyland, Hong Kong is lucky to have an additional family amusement park. Native Marine Park, on the city’s south coast, is a local favorite. Over the years, the park has continued to expand its park and modernize its rides, resulting in the world-class facility it is today.

Ocean Park has an important mission: combining entertainment with education and conservation. Ocean Park combines an amusement park, aquarium, and zoo, offering enough activities to entertain the whole family.

Ocean Park is divided into two major scenic spots: Peak Paradise and Waterfront Paradise, which are connected by a 1,400-meter-long cable car system, allowing you to enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Hong Kong coast from high altitude. For thrill-seekers, the park features several “scream machines” — roller coasters and water rides designed to keep you on the edge of your seat. But don’t worry; the park offers a wide variety of rides for kids of all ages.

Getting the most out of your family holiday at Ocean Park can be as simple as following these tips:

VR (Virtual Reality) Mine Ride: VR Mine Ride is the first VR roller coaster in Hong Kong. Go on a virtual reality adventure in the rainforest, through the rainforest, into the sea and the sky – all in seconds!

Whether you’re swerving to avoid robot attacks or falling through space, the nature of roller coasters Gravity all adds to the thrill of the wind, making you feel like you’re soaring and trapped in what you’re seeing. We promise it’ll leave you gasping, screaming to the horizon and back!

Ferris Wheel: For those looking for a quieter and more relaxing ride, we recommend the Ferris Wheel. This is a classic family attraction with wheels 24 meters in diameter. Get your camera ready for panoramic photos as you take in the beauty of Ocean Park and the South China Sea.

Gondola rides: Whether you’re looking for thrills or relaxation, a gondola ride at night is a must-see. Take in breathtaking views of the South China Sea from above on this 1.4km journey.

Animal World: Ocean Park’s core objective is to educate the public about the importance of animals and environmental conservation. As a result, Ocean Park has an impressive zoo and is currently home to two giant pandas, Yingying and Lele. The magnificent aquarium is designed as a panoramic coral island and a replica of a real ocean. It houses more than 5,000 different species of fish in more than 400 species, and one can spot sharks, stingrays, guitarfish, and other rare species as one moves across the aquarium.

Old Hong Kong: This themed area recreates the style of the streets of Hong Kong before the skyscrapers took over. There are many landmarks in Hong Kong, and you can also taste some traditional food.

There are many fun activities for young and old, and it is a joy to travel to Hong Kong with children. Hong Kong is a great place for a family vacation, with plenty of indoor and outdoor activities for the whole family to enjoy.
